New Predictive Modeling Tool Helps Identify High-Risk PCI Patients at Point of Care
(posted: 02/11/11) Clinicians nationwide now have access to a new predictive modeling tool that takes pertinent patient demographic and clinical information, and models patient risk of readmission in real time and at the point of care. ePRISM, the first integrated 30-day PCI readmission model, is now available thanks to a strategic partnership between Health Outcomes Sciences (HOS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
"Healthcare systems are searching for ways to identify high-risk PCI patients earlier in the care process in the wake of changes in reimbursement for 30-day readmissions," said Harlan Krumholz, M.D., S.M., F.A.C.C., in a statement released by HOS. Dr. Krumholz developed the model at Yale University's New Haven Center for Outcomes Research & Evaluation.
"This model, delivered through HOS patented ePRISM software, extends the ability of providers to individualize care from better management of bleeding risks and use of drug eluting stents to now supporting discharge planning,” said John Spertus M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.C., one of the developers of the ePRISM software.
HOS expects delivery of models for CHF, AMI and pneumonia early this year. For more information about ePRISM, visit www.h-outcomes.com.
