CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND BOARD MEMBER
As Chief Executive Officer, Jim Wilson provides leadership and guidance in all aspects of HOS’s day-to-day operations as well as participating in investor relations and board representation. Jim’s initial responsibilities included the formal launch of HOS as a commercial venture, including the hiring of the executive staff, space, client contracts, pricing and other initial processes required for commercialization of the ePRISM® software solution.
With over 30 years of experience in healthcare information technology, Jim has served in senior executive roles with industry leaders such as McAuto, EDS, and Cerner Corporation. Prior to joining HOS, Jim served as President of Craneware, Inc., where he grew the company from a privately held, $40M venture to a publicly held company trading on the London Stock exchange. Jim’s scope of executive responsibilities have included domestic as well as global markets, with specific international leadership responsibilities in the Middle East and United Kingdom.
Jim attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri and served honorably for over 9 years in the United States Navy. Jim is a member of the executive leadership committee of the Kansas Chapter of the American Heart Association, a longtime member of the Health Management Academy and sits on advisory boards for a number of commercial healthcare software companies.
CO-FOUNDER AND CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
John Spertus, MD, MPH, FACC, is a cardiologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he serves as Director of Cardiovascular Education and Outcomes Research at the Mid America Heart Institute. Dr. Spertus has a national reputation as a leader in cardiovascular outcomes research. His leadership role stems from his interest and success in quantifying patients' experience of their disease and using these data as endpoints in clinical trials, as markers of healthcare quality and as tools in improving patient care. He developed the Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ), and the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) and numerous risk prediction models based on these instruments. These instruments have been translated into over 20 languages each and are emerging as the gold standards for quantifying patients' health status in coronary artery disease and heart failure. He has held continuous NIH support for his research since 1999 and was recently awarded an NHLBI SCCOR grant in conjunction with Washington University, to pursue a translational research program describing the etiology of disparities in outcomes among minority and diabetic patients recovering from an acute myocardial infarction.
Dr. Spertus is also committed to the evaluation and improvement in the quality of cardiovascular care and in related applications of outcomes research. He has served on numerous national committees, including his role as co-chair of the AMA/ACC/AHA Consortium task force developing outpatient performance measures for CMS' DOQ project in hypertension, coronary disease and heart failure. He serves on the AHA/ACC Joint Task Force on Performance Measures, is a member of the AHA's Outcomes Research Interdisciplinary Working Group and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's Expert Panel on Outcomes Research and has co-founded the Annual AHA/ACC Scientific Forum on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research. He recently served on a committee for the Institute of Medicine to accelerate the process of improving the American healthcare system. He has also founded the Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Consortium and CV Outcomes; a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the advancement of healthcare quality and outcomes research in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Spertus has also published numerous articles related to his work and research.
CO-FOUNDER AND GENERAL COUNSEL
Before joining Health Outcomes Sciences LLC in May 2005, James Spertus was Vice President and Director of United States Anti-Piracy Operations for the Motion Picture Association of America where he was responsible for all aspects of United States anti-piracy efforts. Mr. Spertus oversaw the day-to-day operations of the anti-piracy program and the strategic development of new and innovative anti-piracy strategies. Mr. Spertus directed the activities of over 150 permanent employees and contract personnel in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories, and coordinated criminal and civil actions involving both internet and hard-goods piracy, along with public relations and outreach programs designed to increase public awareness of piracy issues.
Mr. Spertus joined the MPAA from the United States Attorney's Office in the Central District of California where he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for 7.5 years. During his last 3.5 years at the United States Attorney's Office, Mr. Spertus focused exclusively on criminal intellectual property offenses, including cases involving anti-piracy, economic espionage and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Mr. Spertus obtained the first-ever convictions after trial under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and also filed the first-ever economic espionage cases in the Central District of California. Much of Mr. Spertus' work at the United States Attorney's Office involved novel and untested legal theories that set precedents for similar cases throughout the Nation. Mr. Spertus also spoke at training sessions at several federal investigative agencies, including sessions at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Prior to joining the United States Attorney's Office, Mr. Spertus spent four years as an associate at the Los Angeles law firm Irell & Manella. Before joining Irell & Manella, Mr. Spertus served as a law clerk for the Honorable Proctor Hug, Jr., on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Spertus earned his law degree from the University of Southern California in 1991, graduated Order of the Coif (Top 10%), and was Managing Editor of the Southern California Law Review. Mr. Spertus earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1988.
CO-FOUNDER AND VICE PRESIDENT
Gabe Soto, MD, PhD, FACC, is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist with Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Cardiovascular Consultants is the leading group for cardiovascular healthcare between St. Louis and Memphis. Dr. Soto heads the Arrhythmia and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Centers at Southeast Missouri Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Soto completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology in the Physician Scientist Training Program at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Soto has an extensive background in mathematics and applied computer science. His experiences range from molecular modeling and the design of a novel class of patented anti-microbial agents, to having developed medical database and record management software for one of the nation's top-ranked medical schools, to serving in an advisory capacity in the deployment of a computerized physician order entry system at one of America's top-10 ranked hospitals. In addition, Dr. Soto has worked as an independent technology consultant for over ten years and has developed a number of commercial applications, including MD Sync™, a centralized electronic medical record management system for Palm OS and Windows Mobile Edition platforms.
Dr. Soto received his bachelors from Wesleyan University, and then went on earn his MD and PhD degrees at Washington University's Medical Scientist Training Program where he concentrated in Molecular Biophysics. While earning his doctorate, he was actively involved in a number of science outreach programs and served as director of the Young Scientist Program, one of the largest science outreach initiatives in the St. Louis Public Schools System that was funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He cofounded the St. Louis Science Education Network, which offered teachers and educators specialized training geared towards understanding emerging information technologies and their application to the classroom.
Following completion of his residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. Soto went on to complete an Outcomes Research Fellowship at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, were he applied his experiences in science, education and information technologies towards the development of novel systems that can help physicians and patients better understand the complex relationships between clinical determinants and health outcomes, and which can help outcomes researchers rapidly translate new clinical knowledge to the forefront of patient care.
Dr. Soto has also published numerous articles related to his work and research.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mike Fiorito has been with HOS since it started as a commercial venture in October 2009. Mike has been in the role of Chief Operating Officer since February 2011. Prior to February, Mike held the roles of President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. As COO, Mike is responsible for all Client facing operational processes and services, as well as all internal company operations.
Mike brings more than 25 years of solid executive management experience in the U.S. healthcare market. Prior to joining HOS in 2009 he was most recently the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for LifeWatch Corp in Chicago. Prior to LifeWatch, Mike spent 12 years at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City. With Cerner, a leading supplier of healthcare information technology and electronic health records, Mike held key positions in sales leadership and executive management finally leading their U.S. Northeast business unit. Prior to Cerner, Mike directed Corporate Healthcare Programs and National Contracting at SmithKline Beecham, now Quest Diagnostics.
Mike holds both a Masters and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Albany, New York, and is a professional associate of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association and a former chairman of the American Cancer Society in Johnson County, Kansas.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER/SECURITY OFFICER
Jim Stickley holds the position of Chief Technology Officer and Security Officer where he is responsible for setting direction for and delivering HOS’s Technology and Security needs. Jim’s primary responsibilities include the budgetary and operational management of the environments hosting HOS’s client facing ePRISM® system, the continued evolution of the ePRISM® technology, and supplying technology to support HOS’s day-to-day operations. As Security Officer, Jim ensures information security for ePRISM®; client data and networks as well as physical security for all facilities housing HOS operations.
Jim brings 19 years of information technology experience from a wide variety of industries including, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Technology Consulting, Insurance Regulation, and Government. Prior to joining HOS, Jim served as a Program Manager for H&R Block, where he was responsible for deploying technology to create a unified virtual call center composed of 12 domestic and international sites housing 3000 agents. Prior to joining H&R Block, Jim was President of Sympulsic, Inc. a technology consulting company where he delivered technology projects for several large companies in the Kansas City area. Jim was also the Director of Technology for Birch Telecom, Enterprise Architect for Birch Telecom, and held many other Architecture/Development roles earlier in his career.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Missouri University of Science & Technology.

Matt Wilson has been with Health Outcomes Sciences since its commercial launch and was promoted to President in February of 2011 overseeing HOS’s market facing organizations. In this role Matt owns responsibility for top line revenue growth, market strategies for the adoption of HOS technologies and the marketing and PR function of the company.
Matt brings 20 years of healthcare industry experience having held roles in the acute, ambulatory and long term care markets (domestic and international) all with a focus on the adoption of leading edge health information technology. Matt has been a consistent top 1% performer throughout his executive sales and consulting leadership roles and brings a passion for performance and change in Healthcare.
Matt most recently held a number of executive leadership roles at Cerner Corporation, with P&L ownership of sales, service and consulting organizations responsible for Cerner’s growth within geographic business units. Matt’s final role at Cerner included the management of a strategic central organization charged with managing sales and service for Cerner’s largest clients.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and serves as a formal mentor to its Gordon E. Crosby, Jr. MBA Program. In addition, Matt is actively involved in local youth baseball programs.
